2020 Omaha was founded in 2000 by a group of Omaha
residents interested in preserving Omaha's 20th century built environment. The group realized that effective and successful
preservation of 20th century resources requires foresight and planning. The founding members saw the need to establish
a proactive organization dedicated to preservation of Omaha's 20th century architecture and landscapes.
The term 2020 represents the two primary goals:
To provide the "clear vision" required to recognize the importance of Omaha's historic 20th century fabric; and
2. The 100 year span between 1920 and the decade in which structures built in the 1970's will become eligible
for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. 2020 Omaha hopes to nominate the top twenty 20th century
structures in Omaha to historic registers by the year 2020.
2020 Omaha memership includes architects,
landscape architects, historians, preservationists, conservators, educators, small-business people and others interested in
preserving Omaha's 20th century historic resources.
